Texell Credit Union’s philanthropic efforts through its Texell Serves initiative encourages team members to volunteer in the communities they live, work, and play. Since being formed in 2015, Texell team members have volunteered hundreds of hours each year, and 2023 was the most impactful community service year to date. In 2023, team members volunteered over 1,000 cumulative hours and a record-breaking 95% of Texell team members volunteered at least once.

Texell Serves distributed food to 3,876 families at Brighter Days in Leander, Shepherd’s Heart in Hewitt, The Love of Christ, and Churches Touching Lives for Christ in Temple. Employees also rolled up their sleeves and donated over 80 units of blood for Carter BloodCare and Baylor Scott & White Blood Center. Each unit of blood saves three lives.

“Texell makes a difference in all the communities we serve, not just by offering exceptional service, but by volunteering our time to benefit those who need it most,” said Monica MacKay, Chair of the Texell Serves Committee.

Employees who put in the most volunteer hours received the Diamond Award. Texell will honor employees at a luncheon later this month. Patrick Gulley, Texell’s Contact Floor Supervisor, achieved the first Diamond Award in 2022 and volunteered at the most events in 2023.

“Volunteering allows me to connect with the community and make it a better place,” said Patrick Gulley. “I enjoy working with others and meeting new friends along the way. I also enjoy a friendly competition between my Texell teammates.”

Besides helping at food pantries and blood drives this past year, Texell Serves also helped build houses with Habitat for Humanity, prepare meals for Feed My Sheep, raise money for the Alzheimer’s Association and collect items for senior citizens to benefit Closet of Hope and Be a Santa for a Senior.
