With help from Texell’s Commercial team, Renee and Donald Lee secured funding from the Small Business Administration (SBA) to open the first location within Austin’s city limits. Renee has worked in education for 22 years and decided she wanted to work with kids of all ages to make a bigger impact.

“Texell and Camille (Commercial Support Specialist) were with us every step of the way,” Renee said. “She made sure it wasn’t a daunting task by breaking it up into little pieces. And honestly, I’m glad it took some time to go through the process, because it gave us time to learn about the Huntington company, interview with them, and make decisions.”

The center offers two main tutoring programs for K-12 and test preparation. K-12 focuses on math and reading, while test prep improves ACT and SAT scores. The center uses high dosage tutoring to advance students up to two grade levels in a few months. After a comprehensive academic evaluation, the tutor develops a personalized plan based on the number of tutoring hours needed.

“We want to give them the confidence to apply their skills in class,” Renee said. “When we’re working with kids, we’re not just working on math and reading. We’re teaching the skills to be successful in whatever content area you’re addressing.”

Both in-person and online tutoring sessions are available. The center has several payment options and occasional specials, and scholarships and grants help all students to reach their full potential.

Community partnerships and working with local schools are also a priority. The Lees plan to attend kid-friendly events and host events at the center. They recently hosted the “Huntington Loves Teachers” day to thank teachers with free school supplies.

The Highland/Austin Huntington Learning Center is in The Linc shopping center at 6406 N. Interstate 35, Suite 1250, Austin, TX 78752. Visit https://huntingtonhelps.com/locations/highland-austin-tx/ for more information or call 512.640.6988.
